Marble can carry a fine arris, a soft polished transition or a deep carved shadow, but each variety behaves differently. Selection begins with the design, block size, veining, exposure and the finish the project requires.

What Stonegraph carves in marble
The collection includes relief murals, domestic mandirs, tiered shrines, jali, carved arches and pillars, deity panels, contemporary Carrara sculpture, planters, bowls, tables, brass inlay and pietra dura floors. White, Makrana, Carrara, Statuario and other marbles are considered according to availability and suitability.
Names alone do not guarantee a block. Veining, fissures, colour range and usable size must be checked for the actual commission, especially where a face, inscription, open screen or long uninterrupted profile cannot cross a weakness.
Machined geometry, hand-resolved surface
CNC machining establishes repeated profiles, panel registration and controlled relief. Carvers then refine internal detail, remove the visual logic of the cutter and tune the surface from matte to honed or polished according to the design.
Inlay pockets and adjoining pieces require controlled fit; sculptural and relief surfaces require visual judgement. Treating both as the same tolerance problem produces worse stonework, not greater precision.

Approving the marble and the finish
For large or visually critical work, approve representative material range and a finish sample. Natural stone will not repeat like manufactured tile, and a truthful sample process is more useful than promising identical pieces.
Send the design, dimensions, preferred marble, finish, exposure, delivery location and programme. Stonegraph can advise alternatives where the desired block size or detail is not responsible in the first choice.

- Makrana marble can be considered along with other marbles according to the design, block availability, veining, finish and required detail.
- 02Can marble carving be polished?
- Yes. Areas may be matte, honed, polished or deliberately textured. The finish should support the relief and setting rather than flatten every surface into the same reflection.
- 03Can a large marble mural be made in one slab?
- Sometimes, but block availability, weight, handling, veining and installation often make a carefully joined multi-panel composition the better solution.
- 04Can marble carving be shipped internationally?
- Yes. Work is protected according to weight and fragile detail, packed in reinforced crates and numbered where it forms a larger assembly.
